Visit to the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

GRI Director, Matthew Wilson has just returned from a trip to the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Prof Wilson said, “It was great to exchange ideas with colleagues in the Civil Engg Deptt IIT Delhi and see all the excellent work being done, especially by PhD students in water resources using novel machine learning methods to solve critical and increasing challenges in water (too much, too little, not clean enough).”

He also had the honour of presenting work from the GRI, focusing on projects in #digitaltwins for flood resilience, #virtualreality for visualising impacts, GNSS reflectometry for soil moisture estimation with #CYGNSS and #Rongowai, and the use of AI in all the above.

Thanks to Manabendra Saharia and Gaurav Talukdar for being wonderful hosts. The GRI hopes we develop many impactful research initiatives together. Thank you also to the New Zealand Centre at IIT Delhi for funding and other support for Prof Wilson’s visit. And thanks as always University of Canterbury.

It’s been a real pleasure having Paula visit us and we look forward to seeing what her research reveals.
