Research Associate/Post-Doctoral Fellow GRI Spatial Data Scientist Position Available

We are seeking a Research Associate/Postdoctoral Fellow to work on a range of policy-relevant research projects being undertaken by the Geohealth Laboratory in collaboration with the health sector e.g. Te Whatu Ora, the Ministry of Health or other relevant organisations. The funding for the position covers 2026. Any extension would be subject to securing ongoing funding.

  • Full-time 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
  • Fixed term January 2026 – December 2026
  • A competitive salary of up to $78,000 p.a. (1.0 FTE)

Nationally Consistent Flood Hazard and Risk Information for Aotearoa

This talk will report on results from a 5-year MBIE-funded Endeavour Programme, Mā te Haumaru o te Wai on the development of a semi-automated workflow to consistently model flood hazard and risk over all of Aotearoa for current and future climates, and show results from this work that are being made available on our flood hazard and risk  viewing platform to help ensure there is consistent information available.
